Myra E. (Sheffield) Hacker went home to be with Jesus Wednesday, June 1,
2016. While her family and friends already miss her presence here, she is resting in the joy and delight of her Father’s presence.
The youngest of six children, she was born August 18, 1939 to Willie and Laura Sheffield, she enjoyed all the benefits of being the baby of the family. Nearly 57 years ago when Harold asked for Myra's hand in marriage, her mother strictly ordered him to “take care of her.” For over five decades that's exactly what he's done.
She had no greater treasure than her immediate family who survive her.
Children: Brad Hacker (Ramona), Laura (Hacker) Waltz (Mark), and Bruce Hacker (Heather) and grandchildren: Elese (Hacker) Bales, her husband, Brad Bales; Olivia Waltz, her fiancé, Jacob Alexander; and Tyler Hacker.
She is also survived by Emery Carr Sheffield (brother) and Janet (Sheffield) Hay (sister), Virginia (Daniels) Sheffield (sister-in-law), as well as multiple nieces and nephews. Arriving home before her: James Paul Sheffield (brother), Gene Dale Sheffield (brother), Willie Mae Sheffield (sister), Ermal (Dalton) Sheffield, (sister-in-law), Jean (Hyden) Sheffield, (sister-in-law) and John F. Hay (brother-in-law). Her greatest joy was her confidence of a family reunion one day in the life she now lives.
Myra’s devotion to God was evidenced in the selection of a new Bible each
Christmas, which she would read cover to cover throughout the following year. She was known as a “prayer warrior,” talking to her Father daily on behalf of her family, her church and many others.
Teapots, teacups and collectible dolls were among the smaller treasures Myra enjoyed. Much of her pleasure was the hunt for the next prized possession. An artist at heart, she shared her love of music and painting with her children and grandchildren.
Her family will welcome guests for viewing on Sunday, June 5, from, 3–6 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. A memorial service celebrating her life will be officiated by Rev. Danny Goddard on Monday, June 6, 10:30 a.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery. Memorial contribution can be given to First Church of the Nazarene, 1727 Grand Ave, New Castle 47362. You may express a condolence or memory of Myra at
