Nancy Dale Lee

Nancy Dale Lee, 83, of New Castle, passed away on October 22, 2023. She was preceded in death by her son John Wesley Row (October 12, 2023); father Dale Edwin Black and mother Docia Anna Black; sisters Anita (Joyce) Thornburgh and Phyllis June Bertram; daughter-in-law Karen Lee (Bret) and granddaughter Katy Hope Lee; brothers-in-law Norman Lee Thornburgh and Bobby Gene Bertram; sisters-in-law Betty Jo Lee and Ollie Jo Lee; and nephews Michael Lee Thornburgh and Allen Bertram. She leaves behind daughter Lisa Williams (Tim) and sons Tony Lee (Annette), Jeff Lee (Mel), Bret Lee and Craig Lee; grandchildren Alycen Cummings (Andy), Paige Mitchell (Andrew), Brittany Lee, Scott Lee, Melissa Lee Platts (Andrew), Johnathon Richardson, Cody Richardson (Pam), Maria Lee, Corinna Lee, Robert Lee, Chelsea Lee, Matt Lee, Elise Lee, Angie Lee, Nikki Tafoya (Alfredo), Shannon Lee, Michelle Lee, Mary Couch (Dale), 25 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1958. She served as the manager of the Ingersoll Steel Cafeteria at the age of 18 under the guidance of her mother Docia where she learned her love and mastery of cooking. She would continue a tradition of cooking for her family and friends whether for celebration, comfort or consolation throughout her life. She moved on to work for the New Castle State Hospital and later as a manager for the J.C. Penney Co. Nancy spent the next 32 years as a valued employee for the Chrysler Corporation, Saturn Corporation and General Motors, retiring in 2004.

Nancy was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and always had an open heart for anyone who needed help. The saying “everybody loves Nancy” was common throughout the community. She loved participating in and volunteering for the New Castle Senior Center serving older adults to enhance their health, happiness and independence. She was an avid competitor in her euchre club and dominoes with her friends and family.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, October 27, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with calling hours from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery. You may express condolences or share a memory of Nancy at www.hinsey-brown.com .
