Nancy Alexander McCartt

Nancy Alexander-McCartt, age 68 and long term resident of New Castle, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015 at University Heights Health and Living. She was born March 6, 1947 in Richmond, Indiana to the late Robert and June (Keller) Cook.

She graduated from Richmond High School in 1966 and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and New Castle Home Ec Club. Nancy was very kind hearted, loved nature and enjoyed watching the birds, squirrels, chipmunks and trees. She always attended her children’s events no matter what their level of participation. Nancy especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter and was always putting others before herself.

Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Bob McCartt of Indianapolis; daughter, Amy Alexander of Indianapolis; son, Tony (Theresa) Alexander of Yorktown; granddaughter, McKenna Alexander of Yorktown; three step children, Megan (Mick) Wright of South Bend, Craig McCartt (fiancé, Koran) of Indianapolis and Collin (Erin) McCartt of Indianapolis; several step grandchildren; siblings, Patricia (Gary) Hackman of Richmond, Marilyn Day of Lynn, IN and Bill (LuAnn) Cook of Cape Coral, FL; former mother-in-law, Iris Alexander of New Castle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Philip Alexander; grandson, Philip Anthony Alexander; grandmother, Ada Cook.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Mark Herbkersman officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the funeral home.
