Nannie H. Ferrell, age 72, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013 at her residence. She was born April 18, 1941 in Heidrick, Kentucky to the late Walter C. and Irena (Vaughn) Hopkins.
A homemaker, she loved crocheting and jigsaw puzzles. Nannie collected porcelain dolls. She was very family oriented and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Frankie Denney of New Castle, Debra Hanke of Indianapolis, Shondae (Nick) Yocum of Greenwood, Sondra (William) Westerfield of Indianapolis and her dog, Sassy; grandchildren, Ashley and Jared Whitehead, Candace and Kenny Wilhite, Matthew Yocum, Chris Basinger, Bradley Yocum and Joshua Yocum; great grandchildren, Cora Wilhite and Kennedy Wilhite; several nieces and nephews; brother, Tommy Hopkins of New Castle; sisters, Nollie South of New Castle and Wilma Murphy of Rensselaer, IN.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Chester, Aaron "Jr", Tyrone and Tillard Hopkins; sisters, Ida Hopkins, Leana Hopkins, and Lillie Mae Brummett.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Jim Becker officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens.
