Nannie E. Ricks, age 97, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born September 2, 1915 in Wayne County, Kentucky to the late Emerson and Lizzie (Stockton) Bell.
She retired from Firestone in Noblesville in 1973 following almost 23 years. She was a member of the Foursquare Church in New Castle and was involved in activities at Raintree Square and Glen Oaks, especially playing corn hole and bingo. She loved flowers and enjoyed quilting and embroidering.
Survivors include her daughters, Ruth (husband, Russell) West of Monticello, Kentucky, Emma (husband, Don) Brumley and Phyllis (husband, Fredrick) Dalton both of New Castle; twelve grandchildren, Dexter Brumley, Denzil (wife, Terry) Brumley, Patricia (husband, Greg) Medlin, Angela Nienaber, Kimberly Brumley, Allison (husband, Tim) Leveritt, Larry (wife, Judie) Bates, Obie (wife, Regina) Bates, Lisa (husband, Jeffrey) Perkins, Harrison F. Dalton, Robert James and Brenda Dalton; twenty one great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; stepson, William (wife, Jerri) Warren of LA; step granddaughter, Cheryl (husband, Dewayne) Smith; two step great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Platts; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Obie McCutchen and her second husband, William L. Ricks; brothers, Frank, Clarence, Hershel, Fred and Earl Bell; sisters, Elsie Davis, Sallie Coffey, Marie Spradlin and Dorothy Neal .
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Jim Becker officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at the funeral home.
