Naomi Mary Ford was born January 7, 1929 in New Castle, Indiana to Russell and Lucille (Rogers) Shrout. Her Family moved to Mt. Sterling, Kentucky where she met and married W. Deward Ford. At the age of 82 she went to be with her Lord. Naomi died peacefully with her husband at her side, and joins her daughter, Connie Sue Ford, April 1959, and her recently departed son, Dwight Dean Ford, November 24, 2010, after their battles with cancer.
She returned to Mt. Summit, Indiana from 1953-1964 to help her husband farm and raise their two daughters and two sons. In 1964, the Ford family moved to a farm in Millville, Indiana. She also worked as a bookkeeper part time at Montgomery Ward. In 1998, Deward and Naomi retired and moved back into New Castle. Naomi lived at the Waters and the Heritage House of New Castle for the past 4 years and was dearly loved by them, and also by her church family from South Memorial Church of God where she enjoyed working with the food pantry. She loved quilting, crafts and gardening, especially tomatoes.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 62 years, W. Deward Ford of New Castle; a daughter, Debbie (husband, James) Heffelfinger of Anderson, IN; a son, Duane (wife, Pam Smith) Ford of TN; six grandchildren, Jamie (wife, Katie) Heffelfinger of Dublin, Ireland, Jon (wife, Melissa) Heffelfinger of Kirklin, IN and Joel Heffelfinger (special friend, Lindsay Kauffmann) of Anderson, Wesley Ford of TN, Amber (husband, Rick) Branson of St. Louis, MO and Katelin Ford; great grandchildren, Willie and Conor Heffelfinger, and Evelyn Rose Heffelfinger; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Shrout) McCoy of Dublin, IN, brothers-in-law, Ray Ford of Mesa, AZ and Kenny (wife, Eve) Ford of MI; nieces and nephews. All who knew her will deeply miss her.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Aaron James “AJ” Shrout, an electrician at Chrysler; a sister-in-law, Sue Ford of Mesa, AZ in April 2011.
Services will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Chris Gamello officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the South Memorial Drive Church of God, 3800 S.
