Norman H. Edwards

Norman H. Edwards, 94, of Carthage passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the St. Vincent Heart Center in Carmel, IN while surrounded by his family. He was born July 21, 1920 in Fortville, IN to the late Fletcher and Mae (Kimberlin) Edwards.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in Europe. Norman was a lifelong Rush County Farmer and hauled canned milk for Kraft Foods in Shirley, IN for over 30 years. He was a volunteer for the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department for approximately 40 years.

Norman attended Raysville Friends Church. He loved music and playing Euchre. Norman loved spending time with family and friends and going out to eat. He also enjoyed going to Forrest Ridge in New Castle to work out in the pool. Norman loved giving to others especially angel food cakes and divinity. He was a generous man and will be missed.

Norman loved his family and is survived by three children: son, Harold (Peggy) Edwards of Carthage; daughters, Marilyn (David) Wicker of Greenfield and Ruth (Dr. Doug) Schweikhardt of Rushville; nine grandchildren, Christy (Joe) Thomas, Jana (Jay) Thomas, Rebecca (Josh) Vise, Monica (Lance) Sparks, Matt (Debbie) Matlock, Mandy (Eric) McDaniel, Morgan (Tom) Hill, Shawn Schweikhardt, and Ryan Schweikhardt. Twenty-One great grandchildren and the newest member of the family, three month old, Luke; Siblings: Maxine Carson and Jerry Edwards both of Carthage, Rex Edwards of Greenfield and Dorothy Robertson of Cincinnati, OH.

In addition to his parents Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Edwards; Siblings, Velma Leisure, Paul and Carl Edwards all from Carthage.

Services will be at 10 A.M. Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Allen Collier and Mike Sherman officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Knightstown American Legion Post 157 and an active duty contingent from the U.S. Army. Friends may call from 3-8 P.M. Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made, in honor of Norman, to the Charity of the donor’s choice.
