Norman E. Vincent, 85, of Franklin, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012 at Franklin United Methodist Community. He was born August 28, 1926, in Winchester, KY, the son of the late Paul and Della (Adams) Vincent.
Norman moved to New Castle at the age of 11 and graduated from New Castle High School in 1945. He missed his high school graduation due to being drafted in the United States Army and served during World War II. He met his wife, Jimmie Guffey in 1949 and they married on January 4, 1950. Norman retired in 1989 as a sales representative for Kurfees Paint Company. Norman enjoyed playing baseball and football during high school and while stationed in Germany. He loved playing golf, making a hole in one at the American Legion Golf Course and was a former city bowling champion. He was also an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. Norman was a member of the Northside Church of God and at one time was the song leader at the Foursquare Gospel Church. He never knew a stranger and loved spending time with his family especially traveling to watch his grandchildren play sports.
Survivors include two sons: David (wife, Lisa) Vincent of Columbus and Kevin (wife, Jody) Vincent of Logansport; seven granddaughters; a grandson; six great granddaughters and one great grandson.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Jimmie Vincent.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, with Reverend Elwood Evans officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
