Norman Waltz

Norman L. Waltz, age 90, went home to be with his Lord, April 3, 2010 at his home in Sebring, Florida. He was born January 2, 1920 in Troy, Ohio to the late Clarence and Ethel (Cory) Waltz.

He was a born again Christian and a member of Bible Fellowship Church. He was a life long resident of Mooreland, Indiana moving to Sebring, Florida in 2003. Norman retired from Dana Corporation as a machinist. He had a passion for building and operating steam engines at the Mooreland Fair. He served as chief of Mooreland fire department and was a member of the Mooreland Fair board. He was an active member and song leader at Mooreland Friends Church for many years. He served as a missionary to Haiti and Honduras and to the Oklahoma Indians many times. He also served as a counselor at Billy Graham crusades in Indianapolis. He was a Sergeant in the Army serving in the Philippines during WWII. He was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille; a daughter, Treva Edwards of Avon Park, FL; a son, Dan (wife, Judy) Waltz of Laurinburg, NC; a stepson, Ron (wife, Cheryl) Parish of Avon Park, FL; a stepdaughter, Sandra (husband, Bob) Hawke of Oregon; five grandchildren; five step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Waltz of 64 years; sisters, Neata Hoover and Louise Ashbrook.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Don Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2010 at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.hinsey-brown.com .
