Oliver Clay West age 80, of Spiceland passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. He was born January 22, 1934 in Burnside, Kentucky to the late Russel Luid and Gracie Mae (Hughes) West.
He retired from Yorktown Foundry after several years of service. Oliver was drafted to the United States Army and served during the Korean War; he later re-enlisted during the Vietnam War. He loved racing especially NASCAR and enjoyed shooting guns and was a dead shot marksman.
Survivors include three children, Kaye (Steve) Hinton of Spiceland, Kelley (Nanette) West of Sulphur Springs and Jeffery Keith West of Indianapolis; sisters, Faye (Bill) Spicer of New Castle and Shirley Robinson of FL; twenty one grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, two brothers, Luid and Bruce West; brother-in-law, Bud Robinson.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Tom Current officiating. Burial will follow at Legion Hill in South Mound Cemetery.
