Opal Jean “Jeannie” Taylor, age 75, of New Castle, passed from this life into life everlasting on Thursday, July 11, 2013, following an extended illness. She was born October 4, 1937 in Hidalgo, Kentucky to the late Local E. “Bob” and Vena (Upchurch) Denney.
A 1955 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler Memorial High School, she was a lifetime member of the Memorial Wesleyan Church (former 9th Street Wesleyan Church) in New Castle. She loved teaching preschool Sunday school for over 26 years. Jeannie loved her Lord first and then her family. She enjoyed singing, landscaping and sharing the good news with everyone she met. She desired that everyone she came in contact with to know Jesus.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Monte D. Taylor of New Castle whom she married June 3, 1956; two children, Jay (Jana) Taylor of Marion, IN and Juli Taylor of New Castle; grandchildren, Devin Jay Taylor of Marion, IN, Hope (Jonathan) Rittichier of Bloomington, IN and Holly (Nathaniel) Linna of Marion, IN; a niece and two nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffri Scott Taylor in 1981; a brother, William “Bill” Denney.
Services will be at 11:00, AM Monday, July 15, 2013 at Memorial Wesleyan Church in New Castle with Pastor Paul Kirk and Reverend Dennis Hilton officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Memorial Wesleyan Church in New Castle.
