Oscar Eugene “Gene” Rogers, age 86, of New Castle, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Heritage House of New Castle. He was born May 5, 1926 in Linton, Indiana to the late Charles and Madge Hazel (Helms) Rogers.
A veteran of the United States Army, he served during World War II. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1986 after several years of service. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in New Castle. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Leona Rogers of New Castle; two daughters, Joyce (husband, Tim) Staton of New Castle and Teresa (husband, Talmadge) Stephens of New Castle; sister, Charlotte Buckner of NC; three grandchildren, Layna Staton, Amy (husband, Mark) Morrow and Jarod Stephens; four great grandchildren, Landree Morrow, Macy Staton, Landen Morrow and Hannah Stephens; several nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jackie Mason of Plainfield, Sharon Marsh of TX, Linda Stowers of Speedway and Anna Van Buskirk of Spencer, Wayne Hall of Indianapolis, Melvin Hall of Mooresville and Leroy Hall of Gosport.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Guy Helms; sister, Sarah June Armpriester; mother and father-in-law, Glen and Fila Hall, brothers-in-law, Billy, Ronnie, Donnie, Bob, Glenettie and Norman Richard Hall.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Steve Gallaway officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
