Patricia Ann “Pat” Criswell, 77, of New Castle passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial in Muncie. She was born October 10, 1944 in New Castle, Indiana, a daughter of the late Ivan Eugene Bittner and Margaret (Cowan) Brandenburg.
Pat retired from Blue River Schools as cafeteria manager after 28 years of service. She had also worked at Raintree Square as activities director for 7 years. Pat was a member of the Young Moderns Home Ec Club for 50 years and the Red Hat Society for 15 years. She was a breast cancer survivor and was involved with a Breast Cancer Association. An avid bowler, she was on a bowling league for several years and was in two card clubs. Pat loved to crochet and made blankets for nursing homes. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending winters in Frostproof, Florida with her husband.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Joseph A. Criswell, whom she married September 1, 1990; children, Scott (Angie) Curtis of St. Louis, Missouri, Rick Curtis of Mooreland, Kelli (Bruce) Johnson of Modoc and Kimberly (Brian) Gard of Mooreland; two step children, Amy (Todd) Swardenski of Peoria, Illinois and Aaron Criswell of North Carolina; grandchildren, Kirsten (Stephen) Lippmann, John Paul (Heather) Curtis, Kara Curtis, Megan (Austin) Beaver, Lance Johnson, Samantha Davis (special friend, Skylar Saylor) and Sierra (Mason) Brogan; four step grandchildren, Kylie Hartline, Alex Adams, Jordan (Scott) Jessee and Brittany Criswell; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Richard (Rose) Bittner of Texas; step-sister, Mary (Gale) England of Nashville, Tennessee; seven sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Dorothy Bittner; step-brother, Dan Tyner; great grandson, Dominic Lippman and uncles, Don and Richard Bittner.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Paul Baty officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Susan G.
