Patricia “Pat†Joan Mikel, age 61, of Spiceland, passed away following an extended illness Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Henry County Hospital. She was born June 6, 1948, in New Castle, Indiana, the daughter of the late Milford and Evelyn (Wiles) Arnold.
Pat was a 1966 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. She had worked several years at the New Castle State Development Center, then at Raintree Square Apartments, working in the housekeeping and dietary departments. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and was a member of TOPS. She also enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, whom she married April 21, 1978, Larry K. Mikel of Spiceland, children; Scott Mikel, Steven Mikel (companion, Darlene Jordan), Sabrina (husband, Randy) Sidwell all of New Castle, Heather Mikel (partner, Cassie Miller) of Indianapolis; four grandchildren: Ryan Sidwell of New Castle, Kelsey Mikel of Somerset, Kentucky, Mitchell Mikel of Anderson, Tyler Sidwell of New Castle; one brother, Jack Arnold of Greenfield; several nieces and nephews, sister in law: Linda (husband, Terry) Denney of New Castle.
She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Christy Mikel, two brothers: James Arnold and Michael Arnold, mother in law: Vema Western.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverends Gene Bennett and Randy Sidwell officiating. Burial will follow at Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. Tuesday May 4, 2010 at the funeral home and an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
