Patricia Platts

Patricia Platts, 90, of New Castle passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Addison Place. She was born August 20, 1933 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Thomas R. and Alice (Proctor) Killey.

Pat was a 1951 graduate of New Castle High School and married the love of her life, Donald Platts, on June 14, 1952. She was a 60 plus year member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Castle where she was the church secretary for 24 years. Pat enjoyed baking, gardening, going on walks, birdwatching (especially bluebirds), traveling with her husband on Juma Tour trips but more than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Pat volunteered for many years for Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her children, Laura M. Platts and Kenneth (Teresa) Platts; grandchildren, Tonda (David) Wicker, Jolene (Michael) Powell, Jeremy (Rachel) Platts, Carly (Josh) Lawson, Andrew (Melissa) Platts, and Arianna Kane; 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Myrna M. Killey and several cousins.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Don Platts; sons, Gary R. and John L. Platts.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Addison Place for the excellent care Pat received while living there.

Services will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Katherine Rieder officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday prior to the service. Burial will take place at South Mound Cemetery at a later date.
