Patty Thompson, 74, of Spiceland, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born September 27, 1942 in New Castle the daughter of Frank and Christene (Cross) Kettler.
Patty was a 1960 graduate of New Castle High School and a lifelong resident of Henry County. She worked a Dana Corporation for 25 years. Patty attended Smyrna Baptist Church, Spiceland Friends Meeting and was a member of Weight Watchers. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cooking, making candy, reading cookbooks, camping, shopping on QVC, but most of all spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Brenda (Gary) Neal of Spiceland, Steve Thompson of Spiceland; grandchildren, Drew Asberry, Wyatt (Lacey) Thompson, Josh (Mara) Neal, Tori Asberry (fiancé, Lewis Poe), Josie Thompson (Aries Hyman), Makayla Neal; great grandchildren, Wynter Asberry, Makenlie and Rylee Neal, and Will Thompson; two sisters, Barbara (Bill) Davidson of Lexington and Judy (Joe) Simmons of Mary Esther, FL; many special friends, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hurchel Thompson, and daughter-in-law, Melinda Thompson.
Services will be at 11 AM Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Jack Clay, David Brock and Jim Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 3-8 PM Friday.
