Peggy Ann Stephens, 62, of Carthage passed away Friday, May 29, 2009 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born January 4, 1947 in Greenfield the daughter of Fred and Lois (Bunch) Smith.

Peggy was a member of the Faith Chapel Church. She enjoyed camping, fishing and was an excellent cook. She loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years: Donnie Stephens; six children: Robert Stephens of Carthage; Tim (wife: Stacey) Stephens of Carthage; Chuck (wife: Heather) Stephens of Carthage; Teresa (husband: Dan) Cullison of Carthage; Dawn (husband: Nathan) Sanders of Carthage; Kimberly (husband: Doug) Jett of Shelbyville; twenty grandchildren; six great grandchildren; mother: Lois Smith of Knightstown; siblings: James (wife: Evelyn) Smith of Whiteland; Mary Jones of Knightstown; Carl (wife: Irene) Smith of Indianapolis; Mildred (husband: Jim) White of Spiceland; Herbie (wife: Sharon) Smith of Syracuse; Allen (wife: Sue) Smith of Carthage; David (wife: Patty) Smith of Knightstown; several nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her father, four brothers, four sisters, a granddaughter, grandson, nephews and a great niece.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, June 1, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Randy Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Sunday, May 31, 2009. Memorials contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
