Peter Wesley Fields, 93, of Grant City, went to be with the Lord Monday, April 15, 2013 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Middletown. He was born November 29, 1919 in Fowler to the late Rev. Charles Conard and Mary Opal (Edwards) Fields.
A graduate of Flat Rock High School, he was engaged in farming most of his life. He married Gertrude Francelia Naugle on October 3, 1944 in Waynesboro, PA while he was stationed at Camp Ritchie, Maryland, serving in the US Army during World War II. He was a longtime member of the Grant City Wesleyan Church where his father pastored for many years.
Wes is survived by two sons: Doug Fields of Muncie and Terry (Janet) Fields of Kennard; four grandchildren: Michelle Fields of Kennard, Chanda (Brandon) Hastings of Kennard, Jason (Tiina) Hazelett of Ft. Wayne and Jeff Hazelett of Richmond; twelve great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Francelia; his sister: Emma Ruth Cox and his brother: Clovis Fields.
Services will be at 10:30 AM Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Grant City Wesleyan Church with Reverends James Ricker and Josh Johnson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Knightstown American Legion Post #152. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.
