Philip R. White

Philip Rees White, 88, of Rushville, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born in Henry County, moved to Rush County when he was 6 years old, and spent the rest of his life there.

Phil graduated from Raleigh High School where he played basketball. He worked on the family farm until he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea. He returned to Rush County to farm. Phil was an active member in the Knightstown Friends Church.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 59 years, Mary Lib (Rigsbee) White; daughters: Betsy (Rick) Williams of Rushville, Susan White of Cincinnati, OH, Barbara (Bryan) Haase of Knightstown; a son: Stephen (Ann) White of Peoria, IL; grandchildren: Matthew (Marissa) Williams, Jennifer (Ben) Wilkinson, Daniel (Bethany) Williams, Sarah Haase, Joe Haase, Raquel White, Reese White, and Sophia White; great grandchildren: Makenzie Williams, Kaitlyn Williams, Libby Wilkinson and Allie Wilkinson; a sister: Bettie (White) Butler of Marion, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Wayne and Mabel (Newsom) White; brothers: Joe, Wayne and Dave White.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Tim Basford officiating. A private burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 AM until time of service.
