Phyllis Jean Coy, 86, a lifelong resident of Henry County passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at The Waters of New Castle. She was born August 14, 1929 in Henry County, Indiana, a daughter of the late Elmer and Florence Wissler.
She was a lifelong member of the Chicago Corner Church where she was a member of the choir and taught both Bible and Sunday school. She enjoyed reading, cross stitching, gardening and canning with her husband. Phyllis made her family her life work. She volunteered for years at the Liberty Township Election Board.
Survivors include a son, Richard “Rick” (Jan) Coy of Hudson, Ohio, two daughters, Gloria Corbin of New Castle and Shirley Ann (Michael) LaBoyteaux of Hagerstown; six grandchildren, Angela (Brandon) Kinnett of New Castle, Ryan (Nicole) Coy of Streetsboro, Ohio, Jill Coy of Los Angeles, California, Eric (Christina) LaBoyteaux of Connersville, Stephen (Mandy) LaBoyteaux of Richmond and Hollie LaBoyteaux of Richmond; twelve great grandchildren; and a niece, Jennifer (Jack) McCrobie of New Castle.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Richard E. Coy and a sister, Bette Jane Neal.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Chicago Corner Church with Pastor Roger Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Brick Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
