Polly (Vaughn) Harwood, 48, of Shirley passed away Friday, January 24, 2014 at her residence. She was born December 21, 1965 in Beech Grove a daughter of the late Douglas Vaughn and Karen (Hayden) Vaughn of Rockport, TX.
Polly was a 1984 graduate of Knightstown High School where she ran track and played softball. She was a hard worker and protective mother and grandmother. She worked at Shirley Taco Factory for 14 years and then ran the Michael Bonne Copper Shop in Knightstown for 10 years where they made millions of cookie cutters for Martha Stewart. Polly loved to go fishing and camping and especially vacationing in Tennessee. She also enjoyed crafts, making cards and stained glass. She helped with racing at Mt. Lawn Speedway and had worked for AAA for 15 years.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 30 years: Tim Harwood of Shirley; children: Jennifer (James) Quinn of Wilkinson, Steve (Brittney) Sanders of Knightstown, Nicole (Tyler) Smith of Shirley, Brittany (fiancé: Ryan Tharpe) Harwood of Wilkinson; grandchildren: Cameron, Harley, Brooke, Jourdan, Marcus, Lindsey, and Alaina; brother: Jim Vaughn; sister: Karina Vaughn Laford; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father; a son: Jesse Sanders; paternal grandmother: Maxine Vaughn Stephens; maternal grandparents: Bernard and Bonnie Hayden.
Services will be at 7:00 PM Monday, February 3, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Ryan McCarty officiating. Friends may call from 5 - 7 PM prior to the service.
