Rachel Criswell

April 20, 1952 — December 12, 2008

Rachel Elaine Criswell, age 56, of New Castle went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 12, 2008 following a brief illness. She was born April 20, 1952 in Linton, Indiana, a daughter of Wayne and June (Flynn) Haas.

A 1970 graduate of Clay City High School, she enjoyed being a homemaker and was also bookkeeper for MC Construction Company. She enjoyed making lap quilts, which were distributed to many people in her church and the community. In addition to sewing, she enjoyed collecting antiques, attending auctions and rummage sales, and spending time with her family. She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle for many years.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 38 years, Micah R. Criswell of New Castle; three children, Sarah (husband, Chad) Sears of Carmel, David (wife, Tammy) Criswell of New Castle, and Rebekah Criswell Hill of Raleigh, N.C.; three grandchildren, Cassandra Criswell, Anna and Zach Sears; her parents, Wayne and June Haas of New Castle; a brother, Phil (wife, Angie) Haas of New Castle; several nieces and nephews; her mother and father in law, Estill and Roena Criswell of New Castle.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle with the Reverend Jonathon Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
