Ralph E. Loveless

March 10, 1941 — December 28, 2016

Ralph E. Loveless, 75, a resident of New Castle, passed away at home Wednesday December 28, 2016. He was born on March 10, 1941 in Science Hill, KY to Ben and Margaret Loveless, with both parents preceding him in death.

Ralph was an individual who truly lived with an American spirit. After high school he was hired at Firestone while at the same time starting his own business in construction (Loveless Construction).

He married Betty (Melton) Loveless in July 1958. They were married for 53 years.
Ralph left Firestone after a few years and went full time with his business, Loveless Construction. Fifty-six years of entrepreneurship, Ralph has left a legacy of hard work and much accomplishment. He has built 300 plus homes, 30 plus apartment complexes and numerous commercial projects. He was builder/developer of local housing additions of Ivywood, Woodbrooke and Edgewood Drive area. He has apartment projects that he has owned and managed in ten different counties throughout Indiana. Ralph started Properties Unlimited Real Estate Corporation in 1966, which actually began as Raintree Realty. In 1967, Ralph was a charter member of New Castle Home Builders Association and served as president and in other capacities in its formation. Ralph was also an International Certified Appraiser and National Registered Apartment Manager along with being a real estate broker. Ralph has also developed and built two hotels, one of which is locally the Steve Alford All-American Inn and storage units (Lock, Stock, and Storage) both have been long time community businesses. Throughout his professional building career he thoroughly pursued the challenges of working with different cities and the vast amount of people he coordinated with to simply “get things done”; there would be too many to attempt to name as he had an appreciation for all involved in the building process from labor to administration to management and stated many times that he felt fortunate to work with people who were good.

Ralph was honored as a Kentucky Colonel, a Mason, member of Westwood Country Club, Salvation Army board, Police Merit Board , Board of Zoning Appeals, Trojan Booster Club, Rural Rental Housing Board, sponsor of American Cancer Society and a long time member of Citizens State Bank Board.

Ralph lived life to its fullest, he enjoyed his hunting and fishing trips, spending some of his winters in Florida, his visits to Las Vegas, the journeys of collecting, playing golf, Bible studies in his home, having spirited conversations on many topics, and most of all spending time with his family.

He will be missed by his children, Timothy (Sharon) Loveless and Gina (Kenny) Cox both of New Castle; grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) Loveless, Jenna Loveless, Carson, Grady and Bailey Cox all of New Castle; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Cole Loveless of New Castle; brothers, Claude (Wanda) Loveless, Don (Connie) Loveless and Murrell Loveless all of New Castle; sister-in-law, Charlotte Melton of New Castle and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Loveless; brother, Ben Loveless; sister, Jewell Lane; in-laws, Homer and Celia Melton; sister-in-law, Carolyn Skaggs; brothers-in-law, Neal Melton and Joe Skaggs.
