Ralph E Mahaffey Sr.

Ralph E. Mahaffey, Sr. age 71 of New Castle, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born February 16, 1943 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Charles and Cleona Mahaffey.

Ralph graduated from New Castle High School where he was in choir and was also involved in the Madrigal Singers. He was a six year veteran of the United States Navy. Ralph retired from Richmond State Hospital in 2005 as a medical aide. He was a member of First Assembly Church of God in New Castle. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing, watching Indiana Pacers and performing with the cornfield cloggers.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Patterson) Mahaffey of Mooreland; son, Ralph Mahaffey, Jr. of Richmond; a brother, Jimmy Mahaffey of Elcenore, Utah; a grandson, granddaughter and a great grandson; several nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Carl Mahaffey, Judy Crouser, LaBerta Prichett, John Mahaffey, Sr., Patricia Pearl Mahaffey, Eugene Mahaffey; nephew, Robert Cole; niece, Dawn Cole; daughter-in-law, Nikki Mahaffey; father-in-law, Bill Patterson and mother-in-law, Mary Patterson.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery.
