Ralph Wilkerson

December 28, 1948 — February 17, 2009

John “Ralph” Wilkerson of New Castle passed away late Tuesday evening, February 17, 2009 at his residence. He was born December 28, 1948 in Atlanta, GA the youngest son of the late Herman and Pat Wilkerson of Mooreland.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving the U.S. Army as a medic. On February 26, 2000 he married Robin Gregg. He retired as a cement finisher in 2007. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Ralph especially loved playing with his grandchildren and teaching them how to play football and baseball. He also loved to play golf, shuffleboard and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a member of the VFW, serving as the Jr. Vice Commander.

He is survived by his wife: Robin Wilkerson; two daughters: Lea (husband: Sam) Thomas of New York and their six children: Adria, Riley, Max, Minnie, Lincoln and Truman; Laura Wilkerson of Sulphur Springs and her son, Hadyn; stepdaughter: Jasmine (companion: Brandon) Gregg of Overland Park, KS; two brothers: Bob (wife: Diane) Wilkerson and Jim (wife: Margy)Wilkerson both of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister: Jaci Johnson of New Castle; several nieces, nephews and cousins in OH, CO, CA, IN and NC; special friends: Lawrence and Mona Bow of New Castle. Ralph had two special pets he loved dearly: Fresno, his dog and Diddy-dat, his cat.

He was preceded in death by his parents, many uncles, aunts and a cousin.

Private services will be held Monday for the family. A celebration of his life will be held 1:00 PM Monday, February 23, 2009 at the VFW in New Castle for all his many friends and family.
