Ramona G. Fields

February 18, 1956 — December 29, 2022

Ramona Fields, 66, of Knightstown passed away Thursday December 29, 2022, in Anderson. She was born on February 18, 1956, in Metamora, IN to Clarence and Geraldine Cruse.

She was strong-willed with a heart of gold and a larger-than-life personality. Sometimes she could make you laugh until you cried and rarely backed down from things, she was passionate about, regardless of what others thought. She was a true Patriot and never lost her faith in God.

In 1973, she met Vaughn Fields, and a couple of weeks later was married in Blytheville Arkansas on
October 16th. A very short engagement resulting in a marriage of 49 years. In 1974 she gave birth to their beautiful and extremely active son Brian. She was deeply in love with both Vaughn and Brian. Family was important to her, and she always put them first.

Ramona had an incredible love for her son. She was passionate to make sure he would grow up to follow his own path and chase his dreams. The mother in her never changed over the years. She would protect him like a mother lion.

Being a military spouse in her earlier years, she traveled with Vaughn to nearly every state in the union and several foreign countries, living six years in Germany. She established lifelong friendships around the world.

Ramona was a sucker for any animal, particularly those in need. She loved her pets like they were family and would do whatever was necessary to care for and protect them. She would have made a fantastic Veterinarian. She loved to watch the hummingbirds from her bedroom window. She would get so excited when the first hummer appeared in the Spring. They definitely lifted her spirits.

Ramona never hesitated to help and support family through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. She immediately lit up any room she entered and made an impact on so many people. She was a joyful presence with her bubbly personality. She loved her friends and family and filled her home with warmth and kindness. We will miss her greatly.

She is survived by her husband Vaughn Fields, son Brian Fields (Melissa), brother James Cruse (Christina) and sisters Constance Wendel (James), Karen Baker (David), Cathie Fischer (Robert), Amy Asay (Dennis), Julie Cuthbert (Kerry), and Valerie Tarrance (Randy).

Ramona was preceded in death by her father Clarence (Bud) Cruse, her mother Geraldine (Gerry) Cruse and brothers John (Chuck) Cruse and Daniel Cruse.
