Randy L. Abbott, 66, of Lewisville, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024 at The Waters of New Castle. Randy had valiantly fought brain cancer for ten years. He was born July 5, 1958 in Berne, Indiana, a son of Vernon and Betty (Knavel) Abbott.

A 1976 graduate of South Adams High School in Berne, Randy was a journeyman electrician with I.B.E.W. for several years. He enjoyed farming, working on farm equipment and complaining about the Chicago Cubs and the Fighting Irish. He loved his dogs and enjoyed playing “catch” with his son when he was young.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Phyllis J. Abbott of Lewisville; three children, Anthony Abbott (Rebecca Kinney) of FL, Susan (Ron) Merkle of Nashville, TN, and Laura Brown of Ashburn, VA; his parents, Vernon and Betty Abbott of Charlottesville; three grandchildren, Aayla, Aaron, and Alena Brown; two step children, Shawn Masters of KY, and Sara McKeller of IL; five step grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn (Dean) O’Mori of Noblesville.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Trevor Brown.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Glen Cove Cemetery Knightstown with Pastor Kevin Abbott officiating. Burial will follow. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel.
