Randy Schaeffer

Randy E. “Smokey†Schaeffer passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010 at his residence with his loved ones around him. He was born December 2, 1953 in Indianapolis the son of Viola J. (Porter) Schaeffer and the late Edward R. Schaeffer.
Mr. Schaeffer was a four year veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his last duty station aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. He was a millwright, carpenter and painter. He had also been employed @ Xenia Corporation in Indianapolis. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and hanging out with family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion Post 152 in Knightstown.
He is survived by his mother: Viola Schaeffer; a sister: Pam (husband: Clyde) South of Knightstown; a brother: Ronald L. (wife: Iris Barker) Schaeffer, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL; niece: Amy (husband: Brian) Cummings of Fortville; nephews: Brett (wife: Julie) South of Indianapolis, Jason South of Knightstown, Ronald L. Schaeffer II of Indianapolis and Brian Schaeffer of Jacksonville, FL; two great nieces and seven great nephews.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Private services will be held at a later date with burial at Glen Cove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hancock County Hospice Program 1560 B State Street Greenfield, IN 46140. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hinsey-brown.com .
