Rev. Carol Ruth Wiley, 86, of New Castle passed away Saturday, March 15th, 2025, at Hendricks Regional Health following an extended illness. She was born August 1, 1938, in Morristown, IN, a daughter of the late Paul V. and Marjorie J. (Lee) Mathews.

Carol graduated from Milroy High School in Rush County. Over the years, she enjoyed ceramics, oil painting, writing poetry and meditations. She and her husband Floyd also enjoyed traveling and helping others. In their earlier years, they enjoyed square dancing.

She was very involved in the Emmaus Walk for over 30 years, where she worked with the Spiritual Formation. She was a member of the St. Meinrad Archabbey Oblate Community for many years. She also worked with Dr. Larry Lemon at the Attachment and Bonding Center in Carmel.

An ordained United Methodist minister, she pastored several Methodist Churches in the area, with the most recent being Spiceland United Methodist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Paul (Mellody) Wiley of Ft. Wayne, Terri Lynn (Tom) Ewigleben of Brownsburg, and Chris (Debbie) Wiley of New Castle; seven grandchildren, Craig (Nicole) Wiley of Ft. Wayne, Joel (Miriam) Wiley of Auburn, KY, Trevor (Kata) Ewigleben of Indianapolis, Tyler (Brenda) Ewigleben of Brownsburg, Carrie (Chad) Mathews of New Castle, Kyle Keller of New Castle and Tiffany (Richard) Gaidoo of Lawrence; great grandchildren, Aiden McKinley, Colton Maverick, and Adelyn Michelle Wiley, Hannah Ruth and Frederik Paul Wiley, Tasha Joy, Rocky Isaiah, and Trey James Ewigleben, Milagros Wioletta and Levitt Wiley Bruce Ewigleben, and Kaitlynn Grace Mathews, Madilynn Marie Mathews, Kynze Brooklynn Buchanan, Isabelle Jean and Ezekiel Jay Gaidoo.

Also, a sister, Rita (George) Foster of Greensburg, sister-in-law, Linda Mathews of Rushvile; nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Foster of Greensburg, Carrie (Kendell) Smith of La Plata, MD, Kevin (Laura) Foster of Greensburg, Mark (Tammy) Mathews of Rushville, and Patty (Mike) Morrow of Greenfield.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Wiley; a brother, Danny Mathews, and a great grandchild, Baby E.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Rob Judd officiating. Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2025, at the funeral home.
