Rev. Norwood A. "Woody" Kreuzinger

Rev. Norwood A. “Woody” Kreuzinger, 94, formerly of New Castle, Indiana went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at the Lakeland Rehab and Healthcare Center. A native of Plainfield, New Jersey, he was born April 4, 1930 to the late Norwood M. and Mildred (Burgess) Kreuzinger.

Rev. Kreuzinger was educated at the Philadelphia College of Bible (now Cairn University) and, after graduating, founded his first church, Grace Gospel Church in St. Toms River, New Jersey. He then pastored at the Portland Baptist Church and was a co-founder of Pocomo Christian School in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Rev. Kreuzinger was previously active in ministry in Dayton, Ohio and founding a church in Cincinnati.

Rev. Kreuzinger began his ministry at Broad Street Alliance Church in New Castle, Indiana in 1987, retiring in 1999. He served at the Cambridge City Presbyterian Church and was chairman of the chaplaincy committee of the Henry County Ministerial Society. Rev. Kreuzinger served as chaplain for Henry County Memorial Hospital for three years and was past president of the New Castle Kiwanis Club. He had the dial-a-prayer ministry in New Castle and Pennsylvania. He also served several years at the Warrington, Indiana Church of the Nazarene and, most recently, at the First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle as pastor to senior adults.

His hobbies include gardening, especially Dinnerplate Dahlias as well as building and shooting rockets. Woody was awarded the distinguished service award from the First Church of the Nazarene. He made over 500 flower bouquets for residents and staff at Lakeland. Woody enjoyed hummingbirds, the ocean and painting, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful man of God who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include four children: Carol Benton of Irmo, South Carolina, Steve (Linda) Kreuzinger of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Michele (Marv) Lewis of West Lafayette, Indiana and Patti (Richard) Warren of Angola; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife 70 years, Constance “Connie” Kreuzinger, whom he married June 28, 1952 and two brothers.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2025 at the First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle with his son-in-law Rev. Richard Warren officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Friday until the time of the service.
