Rev. Bob R. Cole

Rev. Bob R. Cole, 81, of Anderson, passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 at his residence. He was born October 8, 1931 in Lake Village, AR the son of William Leroy and Sarah (Bishop) Cole.

A 1951 graduate of Fortier High School in New Orleans, LA, he also graduated from Gulf Coast Bible College (now Mid America Christian University) in Oklahoma City. He completed a BA degree at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga and had also attended Anderson University. He first pastored in Louisville, KY, then was music minister in Baton Rouge while also working as a draftsman. He was music minister at Scott Memorial Church of God in Chattanooga, then served as music minister in Mishawaka. He also served as associate pastor of First Church of God and Cedar Creek Church of God, both Greeneville, TN. From 1987 to 1997, he served at South Memorial Drive Church of God in New Castle before moving to the Harmony Hill Church of God in Fayetteville, TN. He was licensed with the Church of God Ministries in Anderson, IN.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 58 years: Nell Cole of Anderson; two children: Patricia Lynn (husband, Randle) Holaway of Leesville, LA; Mark Alan (wife, Ruth) Cole of New Castle; grandchildren: Allyson and Ashley Holaway; sister: Carol (husband, James “Chip”) Mayes of Kinder, LA; two nephews: Jimmie and Jason Mayes; niece: JoAnna Hitt; numerous other family and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Hannah Cole.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, October 19, 2012 at South Memorial Drive Church of God in New Castle with Reverends Gene Fauntleroy, Les Fauntleroy and Chris Gammello officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-9 PM Thursday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to Mid America Christian University, 3500 Southwest 119th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73170.
