Reverend Thomas “Ken†Riley, age 90, a New Castle resident since 1950, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. He was born March 20, 1918 in Pickett County, Tennessee to the late Joe and Ellen (Garrett) Riley.
In past years he was Interim at Smyrna Baptist Church, was pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Lawrence, Indiana and also Charity Baptist in Westwood. He had worked in the ministry until he was physically unable. He retired from Ford in Connersville in 1981 after 29 years of service. He served in the United States Army in 1940. He enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren and friends and always put others needs before his own.
Survivors include two grandsons: Charles (wife: Barbara) Riley, Jr. and Kelly (wife: Angela) Riley; three great grandchildren: Heather Riley, Nikki Riley and Haley Riley; a daughter-in-law: Carol (Riley) Manning of New Castle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Christine Riley; his son: Charles Riley; two brothers: plus three in infancy.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Larry Delon officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens.
