Rex E. Madison

Rex E. Madison, 62, of New Castle passed away Friday, December 9, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis following a brief illness. He was born August 12, 1949 in Henry County, Indiana, a son of the late Charles E. and Betty (Lee) Madison.

He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1998 after 30 years of service. He worked as a home inspector for 4 years following his retirement. He was also a property manager for 11 years for Castle Maplewood Properties and was Christian Education Director at First Church of the Nazarene for 10 years. Rex was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene for 40 years, serving as board member, building committee, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, teen director, and district advisory board. He was financial secretary and union steward for UAW Local 371, Big Blue River Conservation board member and Condo Association board member. He loved bird hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years: Claudia (Conaway) Madison; four children: Brian E. (wife, Vicki) Madison of New Castle, Melissa (husband, Mark) Zander of Fishers, Shelly (husband: Gary) Coffman of New Castle and Ben (wife, Stephanie) Madison of Knightstown; 10 grandchildren: Cheyenne & Hunter Madison, Miles & Mila Zander, Madeline, Georgia & Luke Coffman, Cody, Lexi & Dawson Madison; three brothers: Terry (wife, Linda) Madison of Mooreland, Glenn (wife, Cindy) Madison of Acworth, Georgia and Jeff (wife, Esther) Madison of Indianapolis; and several nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a nephew: Harrison Madison.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle with Reverends Danny Goddard and Jonathan Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition in New Castle. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services at First Church of the Nazarene. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
