Rexford L. "Rex" Pope

Rexford L. “Rex” Pope, 68, of Mt. Summit, passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 15, 2010 in his home. He was born June 23, 1942 near Mooreland to the late Harold and Florence (Gustin) Pope.
A 1962 graduate of Mooreland High School, he retired from the Indiana State Highway Department in 1999 after 28 years of service. He was then self- employed as a truck driver for several years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Korea.
He is survived by a sister, Barbara Brown of Webster, FL; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Pope of New Castle and Nena Pope of Cadiz; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Don E. Pope and Larry Pope; an infant brother, Billy Pope; brother-in-law, Gene Brown; grandparents, Faye and Vesty Pope, Pha and Effie Gustin.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with the Reverend Thomas Current officiating. Military services will be conducted by the American Legion and the VFW. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Heart Association with envelopes available at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hinsey-brown.com .
