Richard E. Gordon, age 79, of Indianapolis, died Saturday in his home following an extended illness. He was born December 30, 1928 in Knightstown, a son of the late Hubert and Leota (Peasly) Gordon.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, he retired from IBM in 1990 after 35 years of employment.
He is survived by a son, Darrell Gordon of Indianapolis, and a daughter, Lois Burgess of Greensfork; a grandson, Brandon (wife, Crystal) Vannatta of Knoxville, TN; two great grandchildren; a sister, Donna (husband, Howard) Batt of New Castle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Roberta, and a sister, Phyllis Huckaby.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with military rites conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
