Richard A. Moore, 73, of Carthage, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born August 1, 1939 in Carthage the son of Robert S. and Mary Elizabeth (Gatewood) Moore.
He was a member of the Carthage Masonic Lodge for 47 years and was a birth rite Quaker. He owned and operated Carthage Tractor and Implement from 1976-1996, a John Deere Dealership that was started by his grandfather. He also enjoyed gardening.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 52 years: Carol (McRoberts) Moore of Carthage; daughter: Cynthia (Jeffrey) Butler of Carthage; son: Robert Moore of Carthage; grandchildren: Carly Butler of Carthage, Jace Butler of New Castle, Samantha Moore of Shelbyville, Alex Moore of Shelbyville; great grandchildren: Stella Jett Butler of Carthage, Alexia Crysten Butler of New Castle; a sister: Anita Harrelson of Carthage; an uncle: William O. Gatewood of Carthage; 1 nephew and 2 nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Crysten Butler-Williams and great grandson: Jason “Jett” Williams.
Service will be at 2:00 PM Monday, December 24, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. Friends may call from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM prior to the service. Masonic rites will be conducted at 2:00 PM by the Lewisville/Carthage Masonic Lodge.
