Richard L. Stauble, 78, of rural New Castle (Millville), passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2013 in his home following a brief illness (battle with cancer). He was born July 19, 1934 in Millville, a son of the late Ralph and Pauline (Manifold) Stauble.
He was a 1953 graduate of Hagerstown High School, where he ran track and set several school records and was on Hagerstown first football team. Dick served in the 101st Airborne Division of the U. S. Army. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle in 1999, where he was a machine repairman. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed driving a semi (trucking), farming, mowing his lawn, and especially enjoyed raising strawberries. Dick was a member of the American Legion in Hagerstown, member of the Lostanville Masonic Lodge, and was a member of the Millville Volunteer Fire Department, where he had served as chief for over 20 years. He attended the Chicago Corner Church near Hagerstown (Millville).
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 55 years, Jeannine (Heacox) Stauble of New Castle (Millville); a son, Travis (Lynda) Stauble of Madisonville, TN; a daughter, Lesley (John) Alumbaugh of New Castle; grandsons, Isaac and Spencer Alumbaugh, both of New Castle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Trevor Stauble, and a sister, Bona Jean Atterson.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Roger Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery.
