Richard Eugene Weidner, 78, of Knightstown, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born on March 2, 1939, the eldest son of Herbert and Luella (Moore) Weidner.
Richard was married to the late Barbara McCorkle on November 27, 1960. Together they built a life and family. His partner of 56 years passed away on February 17, 2017. He was employed by Ford Motor Company from 1959 until his retirement in 2003.
Richard was a proud, strong and selfless family man with a strong work ethic. He enjoyed fishing, Pacers basketball games and old western movies. He was a role model to his children and grandchildren.
Richard is survived by children, Mark (Cindy) Weidner of Shelbyville; Darrell (Penny) Weidner of Carthage, Gary (Michele) Weidner of Knightstown, Steve Weidner of Carthage; grandchildren, Brandon (Kristen) Weidner of Shelbyville, Kyle Weidner of Indianapolis, Jarrett, Kiera and Tyler of Knightstown; a brother, Ronald (Lynn) Weidner of Winchester, OH; sister-in-law, Mary Lou (Raymond) Pickering of Big Canoe, GA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Weidner and an infant brother.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Service will follow at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.
