Robert W. Addison, age 80, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Glen Oaks Senior Health Center in New Castle. He was born June 7, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Robert E. and Marjorie (Buchanan) Addison.
He was raised and graduated High School in Charlottesville and was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He retired from Allegheny Ludlum. He was affiliated with the Spiceland Friends Meeting. A member of DAV and American Legion, he enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially auto racing and basketball.
Survivors include a daughter, Robin (Duane) Smiley of Springport; grandson, Doug Smiley of Whiteland; an aunt, Pat Copeland of Knightstown; three brothers-in-law, Max, Paul and Richard Copeland; many nieces, nephews and special friends including, Don Lacy family and Joyce Estell family; all his friends and neighbors from Spiceland.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Copeland) Addison.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Cathy Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery.
