Robert "Bob" D. Hinsey

Robert D. "Bob" Hinsey, age 84, of New Castle, passed away, Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. He was born August 8, 1929 in Muncie, Indiana to the late C. Earl and Doris (Ray) Hinsey.

He had been employed at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service as a Funeral Director's Assistant.

He retired from Becker's IGA, in New Castle in 1994, where he worked as a meat cutter for 30 years. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene where he had served on the board and as church treasurer. Bob had also taught Sunday school and had been supervisor for the Children's Department for many years.

Survivors include his wife: Marilyn L. (Chenoweth) Hinsey, whom he married September 1, 1990; three sons: David Hinsey, Michael (wife: Donna) Hinsey, and Philip (wife: Sandra) Hinsey, all of New Castle; one step-son: Jeff (wife: Laurie) Chenoweth of Washington, DC; twelve grandchildren: Marsha Hinsey, Sherry (husband: Ian) Sergeant; Sharon (husband: Joe) Bergen, Keith (wife: Halie) Hinsey, Karis (husband: Jayson) McGee, Jack, Christian, Curt, Camry and Madison Hinsey, Jaemin and Jullian Chenoweth; six great-grandchildren: Anita and Lily Sergeant, Vance and Luke Bergen, Makenna and Kamden Hinsey; two nephews, L. Michael and Paul Lynn and a special niece, Lois Lynn; special dog: Teddy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth E. Hinsey, in 1989; two brothers, Claude Hinsey in 1952 and Carl Hinsey in 2003.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverends Norwood Kreuzinger and Danny Goddard officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the funeral home.
