Robert "Bob" Eugene Williams

Robert “Bob” Eugene Williams, 89, of New Castle passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was born September 22, 1934 in Henry County to the late Clarence and Louise (Wilkinson) Williams.

 Bob married Mary “Betty” Elizabeth England on August 31, 1956. He was drafted into the Army on May 21, 1957 and served in Germany and France. Upon discharge from the Army, he served in the Indiana National Guard for 40 years. 

 He first worked at Medal Gold Milk then at age 18 he began working at Chrysler Corporation. Bob retired July 28, 1993 after 41 years of service. He also was an auctioneer for many years as well as a school bus driver for the Charles A. Beard School System.

 His is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary “Betty” Williams; daughters, Tammy Retchless and Terri Smith; son, Tracy Williams; grandchildren, Josh (Brittany) Williams, Samantha Williams, Heather (Eric) Alexander, Holly (Travis) Lee, Casey Williams, Zach Williams and Amy Williams; great-grandchildren, Starlight Lee, Shyann Lee, Syrus Lee, Jeremiah Cummins, Ian Cummins, Elena Williams; great-great grandson, Tadhg Mullins and several nieces and nephews.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Albert and Clarence “Pete” Williams.

 Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Bill Swallers officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Military rites will be conducted by the New Castle American Legion/VFW and the US Army Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
