Robert Clark

December 18, 1934 — October 25, 2009

Robert L. Clark, age 74, of Springport, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, October 25, 2009. He passed peacefully, with his family by his side. Robert was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to many.

Robert was born December 18, 1934 in Henryville, Tennessee to James Robert and Eula Mae (Skinner) Clark. He married Martha Ruth (Durham) in Lawrenceburg, TN on July 27 1954. Robert and his wife previously lived in Muncie, but have lived in Springport, IN for the last 38 years.

Robert retired from ABF Trucking after over 30 years in the trucking business. He was an active member of Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church in Muncie. He dearly loved his church and enjoyed working in it. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, westerns and spending time with his family.

Robert is survived by his wife: Martha along with three sons: James Sr. (wife: Theresa) Clark of Brownsville, IN, Robert (wife: Tammi) Clark of Mooreland and Steve (wife: Jennifer) Clark of Huntington, IN; one daughter: Melissa (husband: James) Dodge of Anderson; one brother: James Floyd (wife: Caroline) of Trezvant, TN; also surviving are his grandchildren: Melissa Brown, James Clark Jr., Kimberly Adams, Jason Clark, Lauren Clark, Rachel Clark, Shelby Dodge, Adam Dodge and Matthew Clark; great grandchildren: Charles, Daniel, and Morgan Robinson, Taylor Smith and Lucy Adams.

Robert was preceded in death by both parents and two sisters: Vera Verlene Pollock and Cora (Sis) Smith.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Hospice of New Castle and The Cancer Centers in Muncie and New Castle for their services. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Oliver McCowan officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Clark Family with envelopes available at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.hinsey-brown.com .
