Robert W. Farmer, age 71, of Hagerstown, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born November 11, 1937 in Deetsville, Alabama to the late Lester and Katie (Johnson) Farmer.
Robert graduated from Alexandria High School. He was a member of the Shriner’s Club, Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. Robert enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, NASCAR, and was an avid basketball fan. He was also a member of the Angus Association and Semmntal.
Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years: Barbara Farmer of Hagerstown; sons: Robert W. Farmer II of Burkburnett, TX and Randall W. Farmer of Middletown; a step-son: Victor J. (wife: Michelle) Goudy of Shirley; a step-daughter: Brenda (husband: Jeff) Parker of Losantville; seven grandchildren: Jordon, Michael, Ashley and Abby Farmer, Matthew and Christy Goudy and Joshua Parker; two great grandchildren; two brothers: Elmo Farmer of Melina, GA and Larry Farmer of Ridgeville; his favorite dog: Toby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Mack Farmer.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held at the conclusion of the funeral service.
