Robert Duane Gordon, age 59, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly June 11, 2009 at Henry County Hospital. He was born March 7, 1950 in New Castle, Indiana to William H. and Lena Belle (Faine) Gordon of Springport.
Robert was currently employed by Chrysler Corporation and had been for several years. He was also formerly employed at VanMeter Wood Products in Westwood and Brooks Foods in Mt. Summit. He enjoyed woodworking and playing his guitar, he was a huge Beatles fan. Robert was a bread baker and especially enjoyed baking for holiday occasions. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. Robert was a great father and best friend.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 38 years: LuAnn (Hunter) Gordon of New Castle; a daughter: Kimberly Lynn Hill of New Castle; a son: Eric (wife: Theresa) Gordon of New Castle; a brother: Red Gordon of Springport; grandchildren: Teri and Katie Hill, James (wife: Sarah) Huesman, Isiah Huesman and Cassandra Huesman all of New Castle; three great grandchildren: Robert Duane, Lainie and Jackson all of New Castle; brothers-in-law: Lonnie (wife: Mary) Leffew of Middletown and Mark Hunter of New Castle; sisters-in-law: Debbie Thornburgh of New Castle, Cheryl Luera of Weimer, TX, Tammy (husband: Ed) Decker of New Castle; nieces and nephews: Alcide (wife: Kelly) Dagley of Bloomfield, Shawn (wife: Kelly) Dagley of Corpus Christi, TX, Chris (wife: Elizabeth) Dagley of Bloomfield, Dr. Brandon Nixon of Lafayette, Brittney Nixon of Lafayette, Jacqueline Gail Leffew of Indianapolis; aunt Ruby (husband: Bruce) Moquin of New Castle; several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father: William H. Gordon; a brother: Darrell Lee Gordon; father and mother-in-law: Gene and Esther Hunter.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Jack Hannum officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Springport.
