Robert L. "Bob" Henderson

Robert L. “Bob” Henderson, 85, of Bloomfield passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Ketcham Memorial Center in Oden. Bob was born February 22, 1937 in Johnson County, Indiana to the late Harry R. and Audrey F. (Hutchens) Henderson, the third of 8 children.

Bob entered into marriage with Joe Anna Rollins in December of 1955 at Walnut Grove Church in Bloomfield; they were married for 66 years. He was a member of Faith Christian Church in Bloomfield. Bob worked at Crites Stone Mill, RCA, newspaper delivery, retired from Bloomfield Post Office in 1992 after 36+ years, he then went to work for Mayflower for a couple years, all the time, delivering various newspapers including the Indianapolis Star/News, Evening World, Terra Haute Tribune and Bloomfield Free Press which he retired from in 2012 after nearly 60 years. Bob started the Bloomfield Horseshoe League, pitched in 11 World Horseshoe Tournaments and was inducted into the National Horseshoe Hall of Fame.

Bob is survived by his three children, Cheryl Ann Stinebaugh (Worthington), Pamela Summerville (Bloomfield) and Robert J. Henderson (Spencer); 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Frank (Martinsville) and Estel Wayne (Virginia); sister, Ruth Ann Gwaltney (Bloomfield).

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Joe Anna; brothers, Jerry (Worthington), Paul (Bloomfield), David (Iowa) and sister, Barbara Parrish (Iowa).

Services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the Faith Christian Church in Bloomfield with Pastor Richard Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00am until the time of service on Saturday. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association with envelopes available at the church.
