Roberta Cole Sanders, age 83 passed away at her home Wednesday, November 28, 2012, after a lengthy illness. She was born September 2, 1929 in Raleigh, Rush County, Indiana to the late Melvin R. and Goldie Mae (Williams) Cole.
She graduated from Raleigh High School in 1947 and married William D. Sanders of New Castle, October 1, 1949 in Lewisville, Indiana. Roberta retired from Modernfold and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Castle.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, William D. Sanders; daughters, Rebecca Sue (husband, Daniel) Riley of Greenfield and Dee Ann Koehler of Indianapolis; grandson, William C. (wife, Sarah) Riley of State College, PA; granddaughter, Jessica Koehler of Greenwood; sisters, Zada Jane Hall of Cincinnati and Mary Elizabeth (husband, Clermont) Riggs of Greenfield; brother, Duane (wife, Carol) Cole of Lewisville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Richard, John, Melvin, Jr., Howard, Leslie Eugene, William, James, Ralph, Floyd, Donald, David and Gerald Dean; sisters, Martha Elmira and Judith Ann.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Reverend Arthur Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Westminster Community Center, 2600 "C" Ave., New Castle, IN, 47362 or the First Presbyterian Church, 1202 Church Street, New Castle, IN, 47362 with envelopes available at the funeral home.
