Roberta T. "Bobbie" Ferguson

Roberta T. “Bobbie” Ferguson, 81, of Indianapolis went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 8, 2014. She was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on May 24, 1932 to Robert and Sara Thompson.
She received her education at Lane High School in Charlottesville, VA, followed by Montreat College in North Carolina and the University of Virginia, where she received a full scholarship majoring in Spanish. She worked as an Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist for the Federal Government in Indianapolis until her retirement.
Bobbie loved to sing and compose music, performing in college and church choirs as well as opera companies in Massachusetts and New York. She was an artist, producing works in drawing, painting, ceramics and stained glass in her spare time. Her favorite moments were spent tending her garden.
Survivors include three children: John D. “Jody” Ferguson and partner, Kris of Indianapolis, Steve (Zada) Ferguson of Cookeville, TN and Matt (Beverly) Ferguson of New Castle; seven grandchildren: Eric Ferguson of Coram, New York, Craig Ferguson of Wichita, KS, Jonathon Ferguson of Indianapolis, Mike and Brian Ferguson, both of Dayton, OH, Elizabeth and Ethan Ferguson, both of New Castle; four great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Duvall Puckett of Merritt Island, FL and Jesse Puckett of St. Augustine Beach, FL; and a sister, Anne Morris of Crozet, VA.
A private memorial service is pending at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, P.O.
