Ronald F. Anderson, age 76, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013. He was born May 8, 1936, in Knightstown, Indiana, the son of the late Francis (Andy) and Ruby (Hayes) Anderson.
He was a 1954 graduate of Spiceland High School and served two years in the United States Army. For many years he lived, worked, and raised his children in California and Oregon, where he was a State Farm Insurance agent, a Comptroller for Baker Union Tractor Company, Office Manager for Mount Emily Seed Company, and his most recent employment was at Draper Shade in Spiceland. He was a former member of the Moose Club, Masonic Lodge, and American Legion. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in New Castle.
Survivors include a long-time companion, Phyllis Stonerock of New Castle; a son, Rick (wife, Jody) Anderson of Sutherlin, Oregon; a daughter, Kecia (husband, J. R.) Adams of Roseburg, Oregon; grandchildren, Derick Anderson, Nicole Anderson, Walker Adams, Bayley Adams, and Spencer Adams; a sister, Barbara (Anderson) Ward of Rural New Castle; nieces, Suzanne (husband, Jeff) Stiller of Greenfield and Melinda (husband, Steve) Rose of Middleton, Wisconsin; and several cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Roger Ward.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Jerry Ingalls officiating. Friends may call from 5:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and VFW.
