Ronald “Ronnie” Dean Moore, 83, of New Castle went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 24th at Community Hospital in Anderson surrounded by family. He was born February 10, 1940 in Anderson to Wayne H. and Florence (Rector) Moore and grew up in the Markleville community.
He was a graduate of Markleville High School, class of 1958, attended I.U. and graduated from the apprentice program in sheetmetal and tinsmith at Chrysler Corp. in addition to taking several classes at Ivy Tech pertaining to his vocation. He retired in 2000 after spending 40 years as a skilled trade supervisor and a sheetmetal worker.
He married his high school sweetheart, Alice Begley, and they enjoyed 62 years together. Formerly of Knightstown, he was active in and a supporter of his sons' school activities including: Cub Scouts, band and athletics. He enjoyed working on anything mechanical (especially cars) and general maintenance and upkeep, in other words a jack-of-all trades. He had many hobbies and interests over the years but more recently enjoyed golf, woodworking, traveling and spending the winter in Florida. He was an active member of Cadiz Christian Church where he served as maintenance team leader, a member of the Finance Committee and a greeter.
He was a 62-year member of the Markleville Masonic Lodge, having served as Master, a member of the Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine and past patron of Eastern Star. He was also a former member of the Sheriff's Reserve Unit.
Survivors include his wife, Alice J.; sons, Jeffrey, J. Andrew (Kellie) and David, (Rozel); 5 grandchildren, Joshua, Brittany, Trevor, Maggie and Ethan; brother-in-law, Tim (Betty) Begley; sister-in-law, Janet Begley; several nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as some very special friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Sammie Moore; daughter-in-law, Cindy Moore; in-laws, Ted, Sr. and Ruby Begley; brother-in-law, Ted Begley, Jr.
Services will be held at 12:00 pm beginning with Masonic services, on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Jeff Johnson and Greg Robbins officiating. Burial will take place at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
