Ronald “Ron” E. Bailey, 79, of Lewisville passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born August 12, 1943 the son of Oakie and Mary (Jones) Bailey.
Ron was a 1961 graduate of River Rouge High School in Michigan. He then joined the U.S. Navy serving from 1961 to 1965. He retired from Dana where he worked as a foreman for 28 years. He also worked in maintenance at Eastern Hancock for 15 years and Dudley Property Management. Ron was very artistic, loved rebuilding classic cars and was a master wood worker, making furniture, toys and anything for his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, a jokester and was always smiling. He attended Grand Avenue Baptist church.
He is survived by his children, Ron Bailey, II of Arizona, Angie (Marty) Hicks of Knightstown, Becky (Tony) Hughes of Greensboro, Amy Bailey (Katie MacDonald) of Belleville, KY; grandchildren, Brittani Bailey, Kyle Bailey, Kaleb Bailey, Addison Hicks (fiancé, Matt Rozycki), Tony Hughes, Jr. (April Haven),Payton Hicks, Graham Hicks, and Abigale Bailey; great grandchildren, Bradley, Benjamin, Braxton and Lianna; sisters, Margaret, Minnie and Denise; sisters-in-law, Gaye Webb and Lillie Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mollie Bailey; brother, Jack Bailey; brother-in-law, Ronnie Mullins.
Services will be at 2:00 pm Monday, March 13 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Steve Rayburn officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 152. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service.
